Adobe ShepGlyphs icon plugin

What this is for

The Adobe panel is an icon font helper, not a Sinhala ligature fixer. You type icon shortcuts (like [call]) with Keyshepherd’s Icons layout, then use Apply ShepGlyphs so Adobe renders those characters with the ShepGlyphs font.

Supported apps

• Adobe Photoshop 2021 or newer
• Adobe Illustrator 2021 or newer
• Adobe InDesign 2023 or newer

Icons layout, ShepGlyphs install controls, and the Adobe panel are Premium features.

Install the panel

1. Open Keyshepherd and sign in with a Premium license.
2. Open the Adobe tab and choose Install (or Reinstall).
3. Fully quit and reopen Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign.
4. In Adobe, open Window → Extensions → Keyshepherd.

ShepGlyphs is installed as a Windows font with Keyshepherd (you can also install or export it from Special Characters settings).

Type an icon, then apply the font

1. Switch to the Icons layout (default hotkey Ctrl+Shift+3).
2. Type a keyword in brackets, for example [call] or [star]. Keyshepherd expands it to the mapped ShepGlyphs character.
3. Select that character in your Adobe text layer or frame.
4. In the Keyshepherd panel, click Apply ShepGlyphs (“Use on the selected icon”).

Apply ShepGlyphs sets the selected text to the ShepGlyphs font family. It does not auto-run while you type — select the glyph, then apply.

Icons vs Characters vs Sinhala

• Icons — ShepGlyphs icon font + Adobe Apply ShepGlyphs.
• Characters — separate layout for common Unicode symbols (©, ®, €, …), not ShepGlyphs.
• Wijesekara / Isiwara — Sinhala typing and ligature repair everywhere you type; not what the Adobe panel does.

Troubleshooting

• Restart Adobe after Install or Reinstall.
• Confirm the panel appears under Window → Extensions → Keyshepherd.
• Make sure Icons layout is active when typing [keywords].
• Select the icon glyph before clicking Apply ShepGlyphs.
• Still stuck? Contact support with your Adobe app and version.
